Mumbai: Celebrated actress Juhi Parmar, known for her role in the series 'Kahaani Har Ghar Ki', has shared her thoughts on the ongoing issue of dowry deaths, especially in light of the current discourse surrounding women's empowerment.
In a recent interview, Juhi was asked about her perspective on a recent dowry death incident, particularly given the themes of her show that focus on empowering women.
Juhi expressed her sorrow, stating, "It is truly disheartening that such tragedies continue to occur. Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident. Each occurrence serves as a stark reminder that we have yet to achieve the necessary changes, and we need them urgently."
She emphasized the purpose of her show, saying, "We aim to inspire a transformation in people's attitudes and lives. While we cannot change the past, we can work towards preventing such incidents in the future."
In a tragic case, Nikki Bhati from Greater Noida was recently killed by her in-laws over dowry disputes. Reports indicate she was assaulted and set on fire by her husband and in-laws, ultimately succumbing to her injuries shortly after being admitted to a Delhi hospital.
Nikki's sister, Kanchan, who was also attacked, managed to record part of the horrific event before losing consciousness.
Nikki's six-year-old son recounted the incident to the media, saying, "They poured something on my mother, slapped her, and then set her on fire with a lighter."
Following the incident, Nikki's husband, Vipin Bhati, has been taken into custody by law enforcement.
On a professional note, Juhi shared her motivations for joining 'Kahaani Har Ghar Ki', stating, "I had long desired to participate in a project like this. I was unaware that such a show could exist. Everything I envisioned aligns perfectly with what I am doing now. I just didn't know how it would materialize until this opportunity arose."
